Check out the night sky!

It has been spectacular for the past few nights!

The moon, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury are in the western sky.

Mars just arrived in the eastern sky.

Saturn will arrive soon in the eastern sky.

So amazing!

God is so creative!!!

Eleven Cardinals Dining

ELEVEN!!! That is how many male cardinals I counted at the feeder yesterday!

The most I have ever seen were seven. Yesterday was a grand record!

They come in all shapes and sizes.
I think that some of them are still babies and some are granddaddies.
The babies are bright red, but very small.
The granddaddies are very large!

I am pretty sure that most of the males have a mate,
but the females are not as easy to spot,
so I could not get an accurate count.

Come spring, it looks like we may have a cardinal population explosion!

Land of Delights

I just had the most wonderful conversation with Greta Stimson, who owns Land of Delights in Leland. They will be carrying our mixes later this spring. Her store is so pretty and Greta is a "delightful" person to visit with.

They are open on Saturdays only until May, so if you want to hang out in Leland on a Saturday, stop in and say hi.

That song reminds me of my wonderful childhood, camping or staying at our cabin "up north" with my family. What great memories! Michael actually lived that wonderful Leelanau childhood, when he spent every summer on North Manitou Island.

I Saw It Again!

As I was walking to the kitchen to go back to work a few minutes ago,
I looked up into the sky.

I love to see the constellations in the night sky.

All of a sudden, I saw a steady, speedy light flying through the sky.
It couldn't be, or could it?

IT WAS!



I saw the International Space Station again!
It has been six months since we saw it every night for a few weeks.

Tonight was incredible!
One more minute before or after and I would have missed the orbit.
It lasted two minutes before the light was gone.

This amazes me!
Praise God for the heavens and the earth
and that we can look up into the heavens and see such a remarkable sight!

Too Bad About the Neighborhood

We have new birds at our bird feeders.

They are Common Redpolls and Pine Siskins.

They are very pretty birds,
but they are so aggressive that they are keeping the
chickadees, goldfinches and cardinals away.

Our established residents are not happy with the new arrangement.
This waiting in line for dinner is "for the birds!"

I read in my Kitchen Table Bird Book
that the Pine Siskins and Common Redpolls rarely visit,
but when they come, they bring the entire community with them.

I wonder how long they will visit before they are on their way?
Not soon enough, according to my current residents!
