PackIt and Heirloom Applesauce Cake

One of our clients had to share her story about the PackIt freezable lunch bag
and our Heirloom Applesauce Cake.
She bought her husband the "Be Mine" lunch bag with pink hearts on the bag.
When he took the bag to work, his co-workers teased him about the hearts.
He informed them that if they kept teasing him about the lunch bag,
his wife would not send any more Heirloom Applesauce Cake to work with him anymore.
There has been no more teasing!

Expensive Cider

I spent a few days in Jackson with my sister and her friends cleaning out Dad's garage.
I decided to splurge on my way home and stopped at Uncle John's Cider Mill to buy a gallon of cider.
I accidentally locked my keys in the van.
The good news was that the towing company was there within ten minutes
and opened the door in less than one minute.
The bad news was the $50.00 charge.
My $8.00 gallon of cider is now a $58.00 gallon of cider.
I am enjoying every drop of cider!

Tomatoes, Tomatoes, Tomatoes

It is tomato season at Creekside! Our garden is overflowing with tomatoes.
We have large tomatoes, small tomatoes and every size in between.
There is nothing better than a home grown tomato!

Michigan Mitten Sugar Cookies

This image and email came from Kim, who lives in Monroe.

"I received a package of your Michigan Mitten Cookies as a gift from a friend.
I made them and they were absolutely delicious.

Below is a picture of the cookies that I made.
I decided to tint the frosting blue for Michigan Summer and our beautiful Great Lakes!
I also used scrap dough on a few of the cookies as the Upper Peninsula."

Kim did not know that we had Yooper Sugar Cookies with the Upper Peninsula cookie cutter.
She did a great job making a UP with no cutter!

Babies are Here!

Baby chickadees are here!
We have not seen them yet, but Momma and Daddy have been very busy feeding them.
Momma and Daddy barely fit in and out of the opening, but they squeeze themselves and in and out they go!
I love the entertainment that Creekside gives us.

Bird House

Years ago, Michael found this old bird house on the ground under one of our trees.
Mr. Williams, the former owner of our house, had built the bird house a long time before that.
On a whim, Michael mounted the bird house on our light pole a few years ago.
He did it just because the house was cute.
Little did we know that a Momma and Daddy Chickadee would move in, built a nest and are preparing for babies. If he had known, Michael would have updated the home, like fix the leaks!
The chickadees must not mind, since they usually live in hollowed out trees.
While I put labels on boxes, I can look out the window and watch the parents fly in and out of their home.
I cannot wait to see the babies!

Beautiful Bird

We saw our first Indigo Bunting this evening.
He was enjoying the seed at our feeders.
He is so beautiful!

Main Street America

As I have been packing mixes for stores that ordered from the Minneapolis Mart Gift Show, I find that almost 90% of the stores have a Main Street address. This is so exciting to me! Small town America has beautiful gift stores and people are buying local. We love being "Made in Michigan" and "Midwest Made."
