Father Fred Benefit Run

Yesterday, we rode in the 20th Annual Father Fred Benefit Motorcycle Run.
Hundreds of motorcycles participated.
Even though we thought it would be a hot day for the run,
we enjoyed the cooler temperatures of Old Mission Peninsula.
My favorite part of the run is when the motorcycles pass each other at the
Old Mission Lighthouse.

My second favorite part of the run is the hundreds of people who line the streets
to wave to us and cheer us on.
From babies to elderly, they wave flags and clap and give us so much encouragement.

I look forward to learning how much the Benefit Run
will be able to give to the Father Fred Foundation this year.

Welcome back Brontman family, again!

My summers are more complete when the Brontman family arrives in Northern Michigan! Mom Susie came to the Leland Market today. I will get to see the rest of the family at Suttons Bay on Saturday.

The Brontman's have been Creekside Grains enthusiasts since we started the business four years ago.

We catch up on the latest news and get to enjoy each other's company, if only for a few minutes at the market. It's a good thing that email exists. We can always catch up in the winter via email.

Welcome back!

Antique Cash Registers in Lexington, Michigan

I was just talking to Kim at the Lexington General Store in Lexington, Michigan. They carry several Creekside Grains mixes, and placed an order for more mixes today.

When I asked Kim if they used bar codes in the store (we put them on the mixes for easy check out and inventory), she laughed and said that they do not. They use a 100 year old cash register! I love 100 year old registers!

I saw one in an antique store last month, and would love to be able to use it. Since we do not sell retail, except at Farmers Markets (which is hard to carry a 100 year old cash register to), I am glad that the Lexington General Store does. I hope it lasts 100 more years!

If you are in the neighborhood, stop by the store and say hi! You will be glad you did.

Let's Go Swimming!

Comment of the day from a four year old at the Northport Farm Market last Friday...
Four year old, "Dad, let's go for a swim at the pool."
Dad, "What pool?"
Four year old, "That pool!" As she points to Lake Michigan!
Quite a big pool, unless you are God!

The Wedding

We have been quiet on the blog for the past few weeks, in preparation for Michael's daughter's wedding.
Kyle and Onica were married on July 5 in Traverse City.
It was a very hot day, but everyone enjoyed the ceremony and reception.
Onica was a beautiful bride, with a handsome Marine Lieutenant at her side.
Kyle and Onica are now on their way to their new home in Oceanside, California,
where Kyle is stationed at Camp Pendleton.
We are so proud of both of them, and so excited for their future!
