Spring wonders

When the stress of life gets me down,
I can always get relief when I walk to the front yard and breathe in
the wonderful scent of hyacinths.

Even better, I can cut off one purple and one pink stem, put them in a vase,
and bring them into the kitchen to make everything better!

God is so amazing!
The beautiful colors and the scents of spring make me realize how wonderful His creation is!

Props and Cocktails for Dinner

Michael has been baking mixes and photographing them all week
to update the web site and our labels.
I taste tested the products after he completed photographing the products.
It has been a very fulfilling week!

A few days ago, he spent the entire day baking and photographing.
I could tell that Michael did not feel like making dinner, so I suggested that we eat the props!
The Cherry Cream Scones were our main course.
They were spectacular!

Of course, we needed a salad, so I whipped up a fresh fruit salad.
I am not a cook, but I can make a great salad.

I used as much fresh fruit as I had on hand
(strawberries, orange, banana, pineapple, grapes),
added peaches that Michael had canned in the fall,
then topped it with frozen blueberries that I had bought fresh from
our friend Roberto's blueberry farm last September.
They froze beautifully, and I love having wonderful blueberries all year round.

We had a great fruit "cocktail."

It's not often that we eat props and have cocktails from a photo session,
but it sure was fun,
and delicious!

Only in Michigan

Last Sunday - very cold, windy and two feet of wet, heavy snow.
Some roads were impassible
and electric was out in several counties

Today - warm, 62 degrees, sunny skies.
Motorcycles are on the road.

Only in Michigan!!!

Snow and More Snow

This was taken in our backyard on Friday night.

By Saturday morning, the phones were down and the internet was gone.

Several trees were on their side, including a very large willow tree by the creek.
We are so thankful that it fell away from the house, instead of into the house!

We have a new bridge over our creek! It is more earthy, kind of like a large tree on its side.
Oh yeah, it is a large tree on its side!
When the snow melts, we will have a great pick up stick party,
along with a cut the shredded trees party.

The phones came back on Saturday afternoon,
but we did not get our internet back until yesterday.
I am thankful that we had power and a phone!

I am amazed how much that large amount of snow has already melted.
At least it was beautiful for a few days.
